It can be useful to create Properties at the Business Group level in vRA.
One possible use case is to act as flags for decisions made by vRO. I will show an example of this and a hypothetical use case.
Use Case:
- vRA is being used to order pizza.
- Vegetarian customers are placed in a Business Group called “Vegetarian”.
- Vegetarian customers should not see meat options in the request form.
We create a new Property in the Business Group dialog for ‘Vegetarian’ business group called ‘meatToppings’ and set the value to ‘No’.

In vRO, we programmatically find the matching business group and retrieve the property value. Once we have the value it will be easy to create decision logic.
businessGroups = vCACCAFEEntitiesFinder.getSubtenants(cafeHost);
for each (group in businessGroups) {
if (group .name == "Vegetarian") {
keyData = group .extensionData.get("meatToppings");
propertyValue = keyData.value.get("value").value;
}
break;
}
The propertyValue variable will equal “No”. We can use that data to create a conditional result.
if (propertyValue == "No") {
toppingsArray = ["Tomatoes", "Mushrooms", "Green Peppers"];
} else {
toppingsArray = ["Pepperoni", "Sausage"];
}
You can use this code snippet to create an action to populate form options based on the value of a Business Group Property.
