There may be times when you want to restart a single component of vRA 8 such as Code Stream without waiting for the entire stack to reboot.
Find the pod’s exact name using this command:
“kubectl -n prelude get pods”
For example for Code Stream you would see the “codestream-app-dfcf468cd-c99gv” pod
Remove the random characters and insert the pod name
Example: “kubectl edit deployment codestream-app -n prelude”
This command will launch a VI editor with the module’s Kubernetes configuration.
Find the line that says: “replicas: 1”
Change the number to 0 then save the file. Hit <Esc> then “:wq”
Wait for the Pod to shut down: “watch kubectl -n prelude get pods”
When the Pod you wanted to restart is no longer in the list, change the replicas value back to 1 and save. That will restart the Pod
Again use the “watch kubectl -n prelude get pods” command to monitor when Pod ‘Ready’ returns to 1/1 and status is ‘Running’
